Grants
A grant is an award that does not need to be repaid as long as the student remains eligible. There are two types of Federal grants – Pell grants and FSEOG grants. The State of California also has a grant program called the Cal Grant program and students can be awarded either a Cal Grant A award or a Cal Grant B award. Columbia College Hollywood also offers institutional Study grants to students.
Federal Pell Grant
Pell Grants are for undergraduate students who have not earned a Bachelor’s or other professional degree and who are enrolled at least half time. The Department of Education determines a student’s eligibility for Pell Grant by reviewing their FAFSA to generate the Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The amount of Pell grant awarded is based on a student’s EFC, their cost of attendance, whether they attend full-time or part-time, and whether they attend school for a full academic year or less.
- 2014-2015 Award Range: $602 – $5,730 per academic year
