Building the modern filmmaker. In today’s and tomorrow’s media industry, screenwriters act. Actors produce and direct. Cinematographers edit. A CCH BFA in Cinema gives each student a broad exposure to all disciplines in the cinema world.
The BFA Cinema program prepares you to start your career in the film, television, and digital media industries. Most importantly, you’ll acquire the skills, experience, and knowledge you need to develop your own projects and create your own career path as a filmmaker and visual storyteller.
The program is designed to accelerate you into your career in as few as 3 years. CCH offers a Career Accelerator Scholarship to help students in this process.
The AFA Cinema program provides you with hands-on, practical experience with the basic technical, creative, and business elements involved in creating visual content for film and television.
Take courses on the fundamentals, including basics of movement, voice, and character development. You’ll learn elements of narrative filmmaking and become a total storyteller, working both in front and behind the camera.
Work with directing, writing, and producing students to create short films, documentaries, TV commercials, and music videos. Use real-world techniques and methods in hands-on classes. Learn the vocabulary of professional cinematography, and acquire necessary practical and theoretical skills.
Discover the process of preparing motion and sound footage for distribution. Hone your creativity and expertise using specialized computer hardware, software, and on-set tools. Explore the key components of the post-production process: editing, visual effects editing, sound design, and sound editing.
Learn how to oversee and run a professional film or digital set. Explore the intricacies of the entertainment industry and its practices. Study how to pitch, sell, and manage projects that you can lead to entertainment and distribution platforms.
Embrace the challenge of providing textual foundation for visual and aural media. Explore your creativity and tell your stories. Develop and write professional screenplays. Understand industry practices such as finding an agent, pitching ideas, submitting scripts, and navigating business deals.
Build a solid foundation in the art of directing for film, television, and documentaries. Develop skills in script analysis, communicating vision, and guiding crews from pre-production to post production. You’ll use professional equipment and industry-standard tools and techniques in practical, hands-on classes.
Build a foundation in sound production, recording, and mixing. Learn the complexities of production and post production sound. Discover how to use sound to drive narrative. Explore sound effects and score creation.
